To post an advertisement, select the 'Submit an Appointment' option at right. All position announcements are kept on the web site for 3 months, or until the post is filled, whichever comes first. New job positions are also highlighted on the Trauma.Org front page (seen by 40,000 users per month) and posted to the 2700-strong membership of the trauma-list discussion group. This service is free to hospitals and non-profit institutions, but we ask for a minimum donation of £100 ($190) to Trauma.Org if advertisements are placed through recruitment consultancies. The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Department of Surgery, is seeking applicants for the position of academic general surgeon within a new acute care surgery service at a tertiary referral center hospital, with a practice model of 12 hour shifts for 2 weeks, with the remaining 2 weeks off, thus allowing for a flexible lifestyle, travel and other interests. The successful candidate must be BE/BC in General Surgery. The candidate should have exemplary clinical skills, a team spirit, collegiality and an interest in teaching and/or clinically based scholarly activity. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience.

The Department of Surgery has regionally and nationally recognized faculty covering all areas of surgery, and includes an American College of Surgeons verified Level 1 Trauma Center as well as an American Burn Association verified Burn Center. As the only academic medical center serving a 250 mile rural area, Texas Tech receive a high proportion of emergency general surgery from the entire West Texas and Eastern New Mexico region, prompting the transition to a dedicated acute care surgery service from a traditional call model. All surgeons participating in this model will be considered full faculty members and participate in all activities of the department. The department is active in both basic science and clinical research, and our medical school was recently ranked #1 nationally among graduates as “The best place to learn”. Surgical education is a core mission of the department, and the acute care surgery section will include participation from general surgery residents and medical students in addition to advanced practice providers.
