We are seeking additional trauma surgeons for the trauma team at Grant Medical Center. Grant is a 645-bed, nationally recognized and growing Level 1 Trauma Center in Columbus, Ohio. The group admits over 4,000 patients annually drawing from a 52 county region and supports an emergency department with an annual census of over 88,000. This position will provide acute surgery care coverage on a rotating basis, supporting critical care and emergency surgery cases. Leadership positions at the trauma surgeon and associate director level are available.
Grant has trained trauma specialists dedicated to trauma in orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, and vascular surgery. Subspecialty support is provided in ophthalmology, ob/gyn, anesthesia, urology, as well as in-house radiology and interventional radiology. The Department has multi-detector CT scans and dedicated ICU/intermediate trauma care/acute care units. Medical Education includes involvement with trauma/SICU fellows, orthopedic trauma fellows, and residents training in general surgery, ER, anesthesia, and family medicine.
Verified as a Level 1 Trauma Center since 1991 by the American College of Surgeons, Grant’s Trauma Department has been featured on two nationally televised programs: The Learning Channel’s “Trauma: Life in the ER” and The Discovery Health Channel’s “Critical Hour”, in 2001 and 2002. In 2006 and 2005, Grant's Coronary Care Unit and Surgical Intensive Care Unit/Trauma Critical Care Unit each received the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). Education, research, outreach, injury prevention and substance abuse complement Grant’s Trauma services, making it an exceptional program.

University of Toronto Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship

The University of Toronto Trauma Program offers a 1 or 2 year clinical fellowship in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. This program is offered across the two Level 1 trauma centers in Toronto, Canada: Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and St. Michael’s Hospital. These two centers serve a population of over 6 million and with over 1800 trauma team activations (1400 ISS>15) annually. Clinical responsibilities will involve leading trauma resuscitations and overseeing care on a dedicated acute care/trauma service. There is ample opportunity to participate in research with a number of experienced investigators. While the trauma fellowship includes elective time in an ICU environment, candidates who are seeking additional training in critical care might want to consider combining this fellowship with a critical care fellowship with or without accreditation by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu is the only ACS-verified (Level II) trauma center in the State of Hawaii and sees over 2,300 major trauma cases per year. We are seeking qualified individuals credentialed as either Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join the Trauma Service as full time employees.
