Description
The Arizona Trauma Center at Maricopa Medical Center (Phoenix) has an opening for a one-year Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship beginning July 2008. The overall objectives of the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship are: 1) To provide the surgeon with the cognitive and technical skills necessary to deliver expert trauma care, and 2) To provide the complete spectrum of management skills to care for emergency general surgery patients.
Research Activities
Participation in research programs will be expected and supported.
Fellowship Program
Clinical Responsibilities
The Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Fellow will become a leader and integral member of the multidisciplinary trauma team. Their daily work will have them in close cooperation with students, general surgery housestaff, and board-certified faculty surgeons.
Research Opportunities
There will be protected time for research.
Teaching Responsibilities
The Fellow will exemplify both compassion and critical thinking while actively contributing to the clinical and educational activities of the Trauma Center.
Certifications
Applicants must be American Board of Surgery eligible / certified and able to obtain licensure in the State of Arizona.
Salary
(PGY-6)Applicant Requirements
Applicants must have completed a General Surgery residency in an ACGME-accredited program. Applicants must also be American Board of Surgery eligible / certified and able to obtain licensure in the State of Arizona.
