The Unit
Description
540 bed hospital with 1900 trauma admissions per year (82% blunt 18% penetrating). Trauma patients from pediatric through geriatric age groups are cared for in this institution. There is a wealth of reconstructive procedures carried out in trauma patients with chronic problems. This includes treatment of osteomyelitis, bone transport, and reconstructive arthroplasties. Traumatic ligamentous injuries are also treated which include endoscopic techniques for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The Mediplex Hospital, which houses a 60 bed head injuryunit, is on campus. Patients come from all over the region for inpatient care, reconstructive procedures and rehabilitation.
