600 bed hospital with 2000 trauma admissions per year (75% blunt). 750 trauma procedures per year.
Fellowship Program
Clinical Responsibilities
Instruction at the institutions will offer the orthopaedic trauma fellow a totalexperience in Orthopaedic Trauma Care. The Fellowship will be an opportunity to spend an exciting year in New York City. The fellow will participate in a busy Level I Trauma Center and will function as a member of the Trauma Service. The fellow will gain expertise in AO internal fixation,circular external fixation, closed intra-medullary nailing techniques, and paediatric trauma. There is ample exposure to acute trauma including multiply injured patients, reconstructive trauma including nonunions, malunions, and pelvic and acetabular trauma. The fellow will be supervised by the program director and full-time attending physicians.
Research Opportunities
The fellow will participate in our Computer Database Research Project. The fellow is expected to participate in several research projects during the fellowship. A number of ongoing clinical research projects and some basic science projects are available.
Teaching Responsibilities
The fellow is expected to provide didactic teaching to the residents in the operating room and clinic, as well as actively participating in trauma conferences.
