Description

Instruction at the institutions will offer the orthopaedic trauma fellow one year training in advanced techniques of major spine, extremity, hand, and pelvic trauma management and introduction to the general management of the multiple trauma victim and the operation of a large, well established trauma center. 5,600 patients are admitted per year (80% by helicopter) to trauma center. 5,600 patients are admitted per year (80% by helicopter) to injured patients throughout the state. A full-time staff, dedicated to the management of major trauma, mans this center and uses the latest and most sophisticated techniques to salvage these patients and their limbs. The Orthopaedic Trauma service manages extremity and spinal injuries from admission through the reconstructive phases of treatment.

Fellowship Program

Clinical Responsibilities

The Orthopaedic Trauma Fellow will work with the full-time faculty and residents on the Orthopaedic Trauma Service. He or she gains operative experience with internal and external fixation techniques.

Research Opportunities

The Fellow participates in clinical and laboratory research activities. Vast clinical research opportunities with basic science research available.

Teaching Responsibilities

The Fellow also functions as a member of the teaching faculty

$40,000

Applicant Requirements

1) Graduated from an approved Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program.,
2) Must be eligible for licensure in the State of Maryland.
