The Unit
Description
The Trauma Program is multidisciplinary and is currently run by an orthopaedic surgeon. Orthopaedics plays an integral part in the program in terms of trauma team leading, intensive care unit management of musculoskeletal injuries. The fellow would be integrated management and into this program under the ongoing close supervision of the orthopaedic surgeons who are in the program.
Fellowship Program
Research Opportunities
An extensive data base exists at the hospital for fellow research. There also is a dedicated trauma intensive care unit which has an ongoing program and data base collection. Two basic science laboratories are associated with the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and one of these is devoted to bone-blood flow which has obvious value to the fellow.
Salary
$30,000 Canadian
Applicant Requirements
The applicant must be a fully trained orthopaedic surgeon eligible for certification either by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery or the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
