The Unit

Description

Valley Medical Center is the only Level 1 Trauma center servicing a 6 county region. The Trauma Service is quite active, admitting 1800-2000 trauma patients per year (70% blunt, 30% penetrating), approximately 20% of these requiring ICU admission.

Fellowship Program

Clinical Responsibilities

Goals of the fellowship are to enhance skills in the complete management of the trauma patient; resuscitative, operative and critical care.

Research Opportunities

The fellow will be expected to take advantage of the wealth of clinical and trauma registry data available for clinical research. Facilities and opportunities for laboratory investigations are also available

Teaching Responsibilities

The fellow will be expected to participate in the education of surgical and emergency medicine house staff and medical students on the trauma service,
