The Unit

Description

Description of the hospital and trauma/crit care unit: Verified Level 1 Trauma Center evaluating 1800 patients/year; 12-bed SICU, 10-bed Burn Unit; 8-bed Neurosurgical ICU; 24-bed ICU; aeromedical transport service.

Research Activities

Ongoing projects in advanced and new/innovative modes of mechanical ventilation, multiple clinical drug trials, bench research in ischemia, pre-hospital projects and use of ultrasound and laparoscopy in the care of the trauma patient.

Fellowship Program

Clinical Responsibilities

Intensive care units, including Trauma/Surgical Unit, Neurosurgery Unit, Burn Intensive Care Unit with elective rotations in Medical Intensive Care Unit, Cardiothoracic Intensive Care, Transplant and Pediatric Intensive Care

Research Opportunities

Participation in the research activities of the Division.

Teaching Responsibilities

Fellow is appointed as a Clinical Instructor in Surgery, serving as a resource for residents on both the Trauma and Critical Care services; participation in resident, student and nursing education is expected.
