The Unit
Description
Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center is a 340 bed hospital located in the South Bronx, New York. It is a Level I Trauma Center. Approximately 150,000 patients are seen in the emergency department annually. Approximately 1200 patients are admitted to the trauma service annually; 20% of the patients sustain penetrating trauma. Many patients also present to the emergency department with non traumatic surgical emergencies.
Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center is an affiliate of Cornell University Medical School, located in Manhattan, New York.
Learning Opportunities
Students interested in all aspects of care related to patients with acute and critical surgical illness, both traumatic and nontraumatic, are encouraged to participate.
The rotation is listed through the elective catalogue of the Cornell University Medical School. All clinical time is spent at Lincoln Hospital.
