A child rear seat passenger secured in a booster seat involved in a sudden vehicle deceleration accident. A head injury was sustained on an in-car DVD player mounted on the posterior aspect of the driver’s headrest. The injury resulted in a clean 15cm full thickness scalp laceration with exposed cranium mostly above the hairline level. The wound required closure under general anaesthetic.
