Mesh splenorraphy of Grade 3 spleen injury

Grade 3 spleen injury mesh repair.

Pt was a 25 y.o. male involved in a rollover auto accident. Became hemodynamically compromised one day post-accident (during attempted non-operative management) with drop in Hct. Had isolated orthopaedic injury as well.

The capsule was entire torn away. Several small parenchymal tears were present and bleeding was controlled with electrocautery, suture ligation and eventually the spleen was wrapped with mesh. The patient had an uneventful operative and post-operative course.
