This patient had a large abdominal laceration caused by an African sword (A Panga) with extensive evisceration and multiple lacerations. Initial damage control surgery was performed and a re-look required for muscle bleeding. He unfortunately did not survive his wounds. He was part of our 3% mortality in the 107 trauma laparotomies for stab wound in 2010.
