The CT scan showed complete spinal cord transection secondary to T12-L1 fracture=dislocation, as well as fractures of the T10-T12 vertebral bodies and a L5-S1 listhesis.
Head CT scan showed occipital skull fracture, moderate cerebral edema, right frontal contusions, perimesencephalic and occipital interhemispheric subarachnoid hemorrhage.
He also sustained a right scapula fracture , ipsilateral pulmonary contusion, laceration of the pancreatic body and complete laceration of gonadal and hypogastric veins.
He underwent abdominal damage control surgery successfully. At the intensive care unit he is managed by protocol NASCIS III and passive moderate hypothermia of 34 º C for 36 hours for neuroprotection.
