There were a number of other references to medicine under austere  
circumstances given the article published last February in the BMJ coauthored by  
several members of this list.
 
While the article was aimed at providers wanting to respond to disasters in 
 distant regions, the references would also be handy for folks  preparing 
for disaster response at home.
