Motorcycle Helmets on the Air

I feel one should be allowed to determine if they want to wear a helmet or not not. As far as proper clothing, I get irritated seeing riders in shorts and t shirts or tank tops and sandles...that is ignorant....I have been riding for over 40 years and have always worn proper equipment..HOWEVER,,it should be one choice as to wear a helmet...my thing is If I go down I could be injured for life and sit in my chair the rest of my life letting someone take care of me..or not...I CHOOSE NOT....that is MY OPINON and Im sticking to it....This is why states have helmets laws...you don't want to wear one??? move to a states that don't require you to wear one....Its always someone elses problem or fault..it the big rig's fault they hit the car..it the cars fault they hit the motorcycle..how about a good old fashion OPEN THE EYES THAT GOD GAVE YOU AND LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER....
This trauma nurse has seen it and lived it....

DO NOT RESUSITATE!!

By the same logic, we should ban motor vehicles entirely and all just fly -
the accident rate is a fraction of that for driving (unless you are in a
medical helicopter in the US, of course).

Reasons for riding motorcycles are not difficult to find:  less costs (fuel,
maintenance, etc), less emissions (with bikes fitted with a catalytic
converter), smaller carbon footprint both in manufacture and use, amenity to
simple home maintenance, less road congestion, shorter duration of journeys,
etcetera.

Riding a motorcycle without adequate protective equipment (in my mind,
helmet, jacket, pants, gloves and closed shoes or boots) is just plain
dumb.  If so many Americans are displaying this type of stupidity under a
thin veneer of individual freedom they should be penalised by law.

Ross.
Conflict of interest:  I ride a motorcycle every day.  Three years ago I
sold my fuel-guzzling bakkie (Safrican for 'truck') and haven't regretted it
since.

PS - Last reason:  You never see a motorcycle parked in front of a
psychiatrist's office.
