Medical Helicopter Down

Gross, Ronald Ronald.Gross at baystatehealth.org
Fri Mar 26 14:02:53 GMT 2010

I just finished sending out a post - ain't gonna flame you, because we actually do agree; the industry CANNOT policy itself for compliance. It CAN set standards according to MEDICAL NEED only, but can not and should not police itself for compliance with the standards set.

As to your last comment, I thank you and I am flattered, truly. However, the ability to admire and disagree with someone are never mutually inclusive, especially in our field, where we all have the same goal of delivering the best care possible to all, and yet so many have differing opinions as to just how that is to be accomplished.

Best wishes,
Ron

Of course. The NTSB or the FAA would only stifle the free market.
Let's let the industry police itself. Safety is ideally suited to the
private sector, after all. Once somebody can make a profit from it,
trauma centers will be out of business.

While we're at it, let's get government out of drug control policy.

(And before I get flamed from all directions: I was aiming for irony
there.)

Ron, how is it that I admire you so much, but disagree with you so
often?

Ken has been and is still so very right - the aeromedical industry needs
regulation and oversight. BUT - who is gonna do it. The LAST thing we
want is for the Feds to do it.
