These things focus the mind......particularly as I have just stepped out of the jetranger that takes me every week to some reserves that I service. I _do_ worry about the risk. The communities _do_ need service. I also do Class D HETS (helicoter external transport system) (the hanging off a rope to go get people, thing).............it is a good tool but needs careful assessment as to when and how it should be used. I think I am correct in saying that the major cause of death, in the 20th century, in N American parks is not bear attack, cougar attack, falls from rock, hypothermia.....but, rotary winged aircraft (often whilst involved in rescue work). Don't get me wrong, I am not anti-helo......but I am very much of the school of thought that just because it works, doesn't mean it is the right choice always. Cheers all and seasons greetings. May you all have a quiet and peaceful holiday period.
