Dear Kobe The greatest concern is embolism and obstruction of vasculature. Bullets are generally inert in plasma environment and do not cause lead toxicity. Lead toxicity is more likely when bullets are left within joints. Bullets in the heart can cause psychological trauma? in the patient . However the risks of attempting cardiac extraction are likely higher than the benefits of removing them.? Generally surgical extraction can be very difficult because the bullet may migrate out of the surgical field. sal Bullets, and bullets. If the bullet is military grade, and intact, there is a full-metal jacket of copper. No problems with lead toxicity. If non-military or lead fragments -- either shrapnel or a fragmented bullet --, then the lead is exposed to body fluids. Synovial and cerebro-spinal fluids are the problem, not blood. Even then, the occurrence of lead toxicity is very rare; note the thousands of WW I and II veterans who ran around with lead fragments for years. -- christos giannou Monemvasia Lakonia 23070 Greece tel & fax: (++30) 27320-61772 mob: (++30) 69 74 83 28 18
