Backup Call Pay

New Tulane policy about bringing in $$$ if you are to be paid. Seems like a poor attitude to me. Certainly a change!

I was always under the impression that Trauma Surgeons enjoy the challenge so much that they are practically willing to pay for the privilege. Why pay people for having so much fun?

Ken,
I think Norm is merely asking that we all be paid according to how much and how hard we work - and even, you, Attila and I could agree with that and stay away from the socialistic approach to medicine that some in D.C. are proposing.
Now that I am thinking about that approach, maybe it IS time to go to law school.....
NAH!!!!

Sounds like Norm is suggesting a "Pay for Performance" type of social
system that is also being proposed by the Democratic Congress in Washington DC.
I am somewhat conservative in my thinking, and am about 5 standard
deviations to the right of Attilla the Hun politically, but I also believe
that they who do not work as hard, should not be paid as much. For everyone
to get the same pay, same car, same TV, same work hours, same food, same
news, same everything, sounds more communistic than progressive.

Bottom line should a surgeon be paid in relationship to the amount of work
that they do
