I'd be willing to bet that surgeon was Mike Sise! During my residency, I worked with a transplant surgeon who had a huge chart for each of his transplant procedures. It made sure that all the team members (including anesthesia) knew what stage we were at and what came next. My colleague in vascular surgery has a similar one for his carotid bypass procedures. I remember hearing a talk in the trauma conference 2007, where a vascular surgeon mentioned that it has become a standard of care in his OR. Like this? 1. Stop the bleeding. 2. Stop the stooling. 3. Sew the ends back together 4. Beer. Seriously though I assume you mean more than the WHO time-out pre-op checklist? I'd like to see examples of what you mean. Bill >>> Robert Smith <rfsmithmd at comcast.net> 10/14/2009 8:49 AM >>> I think that's a fascinating idea. Could you go into a little more operational detail about how you implement that in trauma cases?
