Nope...... I am in sympathy with the thought, but I do already believe that the data supports the intended conclusions of this study. My concerns are that I am aware that plaintiff lawyers regularly read the contents of this list server. They also have already been having teaching sessions on how to sue ER doctors, pediatricians, internists, trauma surgeons, orthopedists, and others for CT caused lymphomas and leukemias in the future. Much like the asbestosis and mesetheoloma cases of the past decade. In my view, NO CT should ever be ordered unless there is a clear indication as to what the person ordering the tests expects to learn, and how that additional new knowledge, over and above the existing and original plane x-ray demonstrated, will alter decision making and treatment. If such a progress note were required for the reflexly applied ordering of CT scans, I do believe that over 75% of all current CT scans and CTAs, etc. would be stopped over night. Plus those in attendance recall that at AAST, a study of CTA of suspected cerebrovascular trauma was NOT supportive of CTA over arteriogram. k In a message dated 10/8/2009 10:15:25 A.M.
