In a fully-staffed trauma center, there is *no role* for diagnostic laparoscopy in the patient presenting with a stab wound(s) to the anterior abdomen who does not also exhibit the classic indications for an exploratory laparotomy (shock, peritonitis, evisceration) *unless* one is concerned about possible left diaphragmatic injury from stab wound to the left upper quadrant *and* believes that such a diaphragmatic injury must be diagnosed and treated acutely.
