Molly - I can understand the physiological reason for it working in a spontaneously breathing patient. But how on earth is it supposed to work with positive pressure ventilation in a code? Also all the studies seem to have been done in fit healthy subjects without confounding variables such as autonomic dysfunction. If the hypotension was due to cardiac failure and you increase preload in this way things are likely to go horribly wrong. Fiona.
