I have discussed you idea of ATLS training with Will Chapleau. He and I are interested in doing an ATLS and a PHTLS course back to back. contact us off line to discuss Norman Norman McSwain MD Trauma Director, Charity Hospital Professor of Surgery, Tulane University New Orleans LA 504 988 5111 norman.mcswain at tulane.edu <mailto:norman.mcswain at tulane.edu> ________________________________ From: trauma-list-bounces at trauma.org on behalf of Doc Holiday Sent: Sun 5/17/2009 5:59 PM To: .Trauma List Subject: ATLS To non-UK list-members who are ATLS instructors... I've been asked to post an invitation to anyone who might be interested in coming over to teach ATLS with us here in the UK. Our course centre has brought over instructors from other countries - about 1 per course - and we usually have 5 dates per year (Jan, Apr, Jun, Sep, Oct). Would be a nice thing to have a trauma surgeon on an ATLS course, no? We generally tend to go for the more experienced instructors, with the thinking that it would be useful to have mastered the course content very solidly and confidently before trying to fit in to a foreign medical system with its many unfamiliar aspects and concepts. But the course we teach is the very same as the ACS course - it IS the ACS course. Same presentations, same manual, same scenarios, same everything. Those who are bothered by animal labs - worry not, as we do not use them. Feed back from past visitors (1 Canadian, 6 USA-ians) has been VERY positive. ALL of them have already been back for a second helping or are booked to return and all our faculty slots for 2009 are already spoken for, but we're looking forward to 2010... An opportunity to experience a different system and see another part of the planet. Most past visitors have chosen to also have a look around my hospital and ED and some, of course, have used the course as an "excuse" to tour about the UK a bit... If anyone is interested, please feel free to contact me off list. _________________________________________________________________ View your Twitter and Flickr updates from one place - Learn more! http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/137984870/direct/01/ -- trauma-list : TRAUMA.ORG To change your settings or unsubscribe visit: http://www.trauma.org/index.php?/community/ -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
