I am in Antalya, Turkey at the 10th Annual Conference of the European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery. It is great conference and more on that in a later post. I just attended a leadership conference of the movements toward a European Coalition in what used to be General Surgery and now is going by several names: Emergency Surgery, Trauma and Critical Care Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and others. There is significant focused leadership and I have some reflections on what I heard in this two hour meeting. There are lessons that those in the United States, South America, Japan, and the Middle East could learn from the discussions of today. Fortunately many of the labels and specialty definitions "owned" by some special interest physician groups are going away very quickly, and this needed movement will be economic, political, market, and consumer driven. The question is, what does the hospital in the community hospital need through out the United States and Europe and what will the market define. It is happening NOW. I am going to dinner, but will expand on my observations and reflections later. k **************An Excellent Credit Score is 750. See Yours in Just 2 Easy Steps!
