H1N1

When you look back on the pandemic influenza of 1918 (20 to 40 million dead within one year), it's hard not to have some sympathy for the CDC/WHO policy makers with regards to handling of new influenza outbreaks. No one wants to go down in history as the person in charge who minimized or downgraded the importance of early events on a pandemic which went on to kill millions.

On the other hand, asking people to take an unnecessary and usually ineffective flu shot every year simply so that the drug makers can maintain the manufacturing infrastructure to crank out high volumes of vaccine IN CASE of an epidemic is poor policy, especially in the face of inadequate proofs of safety and effectiveness.

Consider for a moment that I'm trying to be serious.

Isn't it possible that the CDC/WHO responses are short-sighted, if not
completely f***ed up?

Sure, we should be trying to protect the very young and the very old and
those otherwise at risk for complications; but for at least sixty or
seventy per cent of the population -- and virtually ALL healthcare
providers -- might not the best advice be to get sick and get it over
with?

The secret to good strong resistance is to never wash your hands. In
that way you get a small dose of every thing and build up immunity.
That is my practice
