During a major trauma alcohol has a high chance of being involved. Adding an ETOH level provides both useful therapeutic and demographic information. Sadly, a dui summons for a traffic stop usually has more legal retribution then a drunk victim who caused an accident because they are intubated in an icu.dn

What is meant by "alcohol screening and intervention"?

What is this in the context of a trauma centre? (Sounds like a primary care concept to me - or am I missing something?)

Does saying that someone "strives" for 80% indicate that there are other numbers one could strive for?

What happens and to whom does it happen if you strive for a number and don't get there?

Simply curious...
