Scott, We began screening for alcohol and drugs for both trauma and ED patients in 1999 under a grant program and have cobbled together the funding to continue to the present. Year to year, however, it is threatened. I've attached the report on how we did it. We're now working on a 12 question all risks screening tool to more briefly cover alcohol and drugs and include depression, domestic violence, elder abuse, and falls. We're sending it around to the members of the Prevention Committee of the ACS COT and will put it on this list when more polished.
