The point is that there are not enough physicians on this list or anywhere
else with enough advertising power to convince the public AGAINST the
media, so it will either happen or won't regardless of what physicians
think/want.

Don't bet on it. Physicians on this list, members of the ACS, members of
the AMA,,,,,,,,,,etc. have patients who look up to their doctor much
more than they look up to their politicians. AND all politics, like all
health care is local. The funding and the protection might be centrist, but
the provisions are local. Therefore what is said in examining rooms,
churches, schools, synagogue, assembly rooms, masques, golf courses by a
doctor to her/his friends and patients goes a long way as to what happens in
practice.

I am aware of several list servers, including almost all of those to which
AARP members write, have had a tremendous influence on the Democratic Blue
Dogs in Congress, just the past 10 days.

I am aware that discussions on trauma, surgical, critical care, and general
medical discussions have led to some persons (not me) that you do know and
respect getting a 1:1 audience with important persons at very very high
places just in the last couple of days. I do know some of the
conversation which went on and it was much like what you see here about QUALITY,
ACCESS, and Costs. Remember that in the Monday night speech, a comment was
made about doctors doing tonsillectomies just to make money. That reference
was an insult and such was stated by a well respected physician in this
country directly to the person that made the statement.

Do not underestimate the power and influence of even one committed
tenacious person. With a long enough lever, a long enough lever arm, and the
right position of a fulcrum, a single person could push the earth off of
its orbit.
