From: kmattox at aol.com > I am aware of the thoracic aorta being stabbed by trocars and large catheters by general surgeons, emergency physicians, thoracic surgeons, anesthesiologist, and others. --> I was not aware that there were still Emergency Physicians who use trocars. When I trained in South Africa in the 80s I was told stories about trocars in chest drains, but never saw one, as they had been "banned". In my UK ED I do see them, as the drains come with the "trocar" inserted, but I have not seen or heard of anyone actually USING them. Also never heard of anyone saying they "miss" using them and wish they could! Are you saying that you are aware of EPs thus abusing Aortas even in recent times? Or is your long term memory simply really good ;-) _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live Messenger: Celebrate 10 amazing years with free winks and emoticons. http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/157562755/direct/01/
