I was at the hospital on duty and fully expecting to watch it in the
Doctors Lounge. We had a stat GSW to the abdomen case and I brought a radio
into the room and as we operated we heard the first words from the moon on
the radio, "HOUSTON, Tranquility Base Here, the Eagle has landed." and
later the words as Neil Armstrong descended the steps. I saw it later the
next day on replay.

taking small steps and giant leaps of my own (although for me, the
expectations were modest).

I watched the grainy black-and-white on late-night TV in my parents'
room, periodically sprinting downstairs and out into the yard to squint
up and imagine that I might be really sharing the experience.

An extraordinary moment, no doubt.

But I hear it was all faked. 'Least that's what they say on the
internets.

Do you remember what you were doing 40 years ago today? It is one of
those very vivid days in my memory. I am sure that is the same for most
of you
