I was six years old, enjoying my first summer vacation from school,
taking small steps and giant leaps of my own (although for me, the
expectations were modest).  

I watched the grainy black-and-white on late-night TV in my parents'
room, periodically sprinting downstairs and out into the yard to squint
up and imagine that I might be really sharing the experience.

An extraordinary moment, no doubt.  

But I hear it was all faked.  'Least that's what they say on the
internets.
