I was six years old, enjoying my first summer vacation from school, taking small steps and giant leaps of my own (although for me, the expectations were modest). I watched the grainy black-and-white on late-night TV in my parents' room, periodically sprinting downstairs and out into the yard to squint up and imagine that I might be really sharing the experience. An extraordinary moment, no doubt. But I hear it was all faked. 'Least that's what they say on the internets.
