Operative fixation of rib fractures

Ken,
My guess is that if they were alert and awake and talking, their rib fractures couldn't have been bad enough to require fixation..  :-)

I am aware of several trauma and thoracic surgeons who had broken ribs,  some
rather badly, who were offered operative fixation of the ribs.    THis
included using the little new titanium plates.    THose that  I know have all
methodically refused to have them applied.
