Agreed - In fact the ones with massive contusions don't tolerate much of ANYTHING very well!

My take on the limited studies is that it has not been beneficial in
patients with massive contusion, but may have a place in the group with
the so-called "stove-in chest" where there is significant anatomic
derangement.

The patients with the massive contusions don't tolerate the procedure very
well.
