My question was sparked from a recent read of a fictional book called "White Tiger" that I bought as it was predominantly displayed at the airport. Interesting read where an Indian of lower caste describes his life and escape as a servant. He certainly paints a pessimistic view of democracy in rural areas consisting of votes being made on people's behalf. I am unsure of the facts underlying the author's portrayal.
