Recently we had a discussion regarding the use of intrumentation to fix flail segments/rib fractures s/p blunt chest trauma. We have had an increase recently in the use of the ON-Q local pain control system for this same patient population. Have any of you used this system for this specific patient population, and if so what has been your experience? For those that fail extubation, do you think that the reason is mostly "mechanical", "pain" or a healthy dose of both? Thanks, Keith -- Keith D. Lamb, RRT Newark, Delaware USA
