OK...we now have several other big surgeons (Mattox, McSwain, Gross to  start
with, presumably Duschene, Thompson and Armstrong as well) interested in 
getting good data so that they can see if there is any benefit to the patient. 
Add in Hardcastle and Brohi, and there are at least SIX major teaching  groups
as well as a tie in to EAST...

sounds like the foundation for a major multi institute international study 
to me. How many patients would need to be enrolled to show adequate  results?
