We lowly EMT's have no say in the matter, and their seem to no Docs who care enough to push for such a change. Maine has a field spine clearance to allow EMT's to not use a backboard. We in NJ are not permitted to use Maine's protocol. So other than that, if your mom is in an automobile accident she is probably going to a very uncomfortable ride to a hospital which will do more harm than good.
