Fwd: Breaking News - Public Option

MAJOR CHANGE IN DIRECTION from the WH. Two MAJOR events have recently
occurred within the WH message on Health care reform. First the President
and his handlers have changed their terms from Health Care Reform to
HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM. The other is cited below and occurred 10 minutes
ago.

This afternoon 8 16 09, President Obama signaled his handlers and staffers
to create the spin to let the public know that he will be dropping "THE
PUBLIC OPTION" in favor of "COOPERATIVES." Personally, I strongly believe
that this is both politically, economically, and from a access and
delivery standpoint, a major concession and a beginning for more meaning dialogue
between the White House, Congress, and organized medicine. Three MAJOR
differences still exist in the President's message and the Congressional
bills:

1. The "HEALTH COMMISSIONER" if ever created (provably NOT needed) must
not report directly and solely to the President.

2. Both the President and Congressional bills MUST address the
immigration issue. Immigration and Health Care for the uninsured are linked at
all levels. To fail to address these in the same breath is to have
guaranteed failure

3. Remove the veto threat statement made by the President many times:
"Tort considerations are not and will not be on the table as we discuss
health care delivery." At least state that this subject is open for
discussion at the Congressional and Administrative and Court level.

Organized medicine AND individuals have a wonderful opportunity to take a
fantastic leadership role in making all FOUR of these issues happen. I
have learned that the administration and the inside strategists have
suffered a significant and depressive setback on what they thought was an air
tight plan. They are now discouraged and believe that they might loose it
all. They are looking for strategic partners to make something good happen.
I know of at least six things which will give them, the patients, and
organized medicine a HOME RUN. Four of those things are cited above.
