So glad to have been on vacation during this nonsense. Thank God Shelley was here to defend the Medical Center. (Trauma-List, meet Shelley Sides, RN, MSN. She's by far the better of our two trauma coordinators; my office partner and daily inspiration for all things nursing. That Shelley usually restricts herself to lurker status on the Trauma-List is its long and immeasurable loss.) It's regrettable that the public had to find out about our Taser, especially since this Friday was supposed to be my day to pick the patients. Who knew that behavioral control could be so much fun? (I had to trade 60 of oxycodone and one of my best fighting cocks just to get on the calendar.) Please. Between work and home, I have over 600 new emails backed up in my inboxes, so you'll excuse that I only browsed the Trauma-List stuff; but my GOD! The intellectual laziness of this thread would make Sean Hannity weep. Eastern Maine Medical Center is one of the finest hospitals in the United States. You won't find an organization more invested in human rights, dignity, and safety on the planet. But then, you probably won't even look. The Taser is EXCLUSIVELY for POLICE use. Explaining this any further to a group of supposed healthcare professionals risks dignifying the discussion. Pret Bjorn, RN Bangor, ME USA
