We have frequently reviewed this uncommon injury. For many patients with trauma, both penetrating and blunt, the function of the ER is to wave to the patient as they go from the ambulance unloading dock directly to the OR, should your trauma center have this capability. In such cases, keeping them in the EC only makes the patient worse, as there is nothing more gained in either resuscitation or outcome which can be accomplished in the ED. k In a message dated 8/5/2009 11:56:22 A.M. We recently saw a case where the ECG was diagnostoc for injury and the medics bypassed the ER going straight to the OR. Should anyone know of any published studies on the frequency of these findings would you please send them along? Feel free to send info directly to my email at schiller at bostonems.org . Much obliged for any assistance. -Susan Schiller -- trauma-list : TRAUMA.ORG To change your settings or unsubscribe visit: http://www.trauma.org/index.php?/community/
