Gustav Recovery

I was part of the evacuation of ICU patients from Tulane earlier this
week before the storms. It went ok with the usual hang ups, etc with
most of the problems coming from the receiving facilities.

Now i'm in Zachary LA (outside of baton rogue) where we just evacuated
their entire hospital due to no power and a generator failure. I must
say, the staff at Lane Regional Medical Center were beyond amazing.
Not only were they 100% prepared and organized for the evacuation,
they took care of our needs. This is a smaller hospital but they
definitely had their stuff together and others could learn a lot from
how they executed their plan. We pulled up with 60 ambulances with
command staff and the hospital was immediately ready to go.

After the evacuation was complete, they cleaned beds and made showers
available to all 250 crew members as we haven't had this since we
arrived late last week. They also made arrangements for real food
too. The staff was the friendliest and nicest group of people even
though they were just as tired and frustrated as we were.

Be safe everyone and keep up the god work!
