Hurricane Gustav

Hey people, I'm not that bad.
Outside jokes, I wish the best luck for you. Here in Brazil, we really don't
know such natural disasters, but I think this is terrible
I wish everything goes ok and nobody gets hurt. If there is a way that we
brazilian people can help you all, please, let us know.

Best regards.

Gustav Reinehr

I'm not so sure about the infrastructure thing.

The only report I saw relative to hospitals was a brief CNN piece on
Children's. The thrust was that they were in disaster mode, supplied and
staffed and prepared for austerity and strain. It was helpful that the city
was otherwise emptying out, and the infrastructure was in better shape, and
the national guard was prepositioned to keep things orderly.

A bit of concerted emergency management goes a long way. Looks like Katrina
taught lessons on every level. Bravo, NOLA; and best of luck to our
colleagues all along the Gulf Coast.

PS: Do your part to help the victims by staying home and watching TV. Send
a check to the Red Cross.

International media reports say several hospitals are staffed and not able
to move some CC Patients. One of the Pedi facilities has 40 or more. They
are making plans have supplies and assistance per these reports. I agree
this looks not pretty. I'm in Vienna, Austria heading home to Houston late
evening Tuesday. Not sure if that's a good thing or not even after a month
in Azerbaijan!

All,

I am not sure if anybody is left as I hear New Orleans has been evacuated.
However, if any healthcare workers are there or have remained in their
medical centers, may I offer you all the best over the next few hours and
days. Watching the news thinks look bad. Please keep safe.

Sincerely,
