I've seen IEDs with glass, rocks and even cakes of mud used as projectiles. Try removing indriven gobs of mud and clay, not fun at all. I guess the average Joe Bad has figured out that ball bearings and nails can be removed or left in; its this rubbish that you can't leave in and that can inflict maximum damage in addition to consuming maximal surgical resources.
