One interesting point that I have learned that was brought out in todays discussion is that helicopter usage is down approx 75% since the implementation of the "call in" protocol. Numerous assumptions and implications can be made from this, but the only fact is that the numbers are down. What must, and should have ALWAYS been the primary mission objective is increasing survival and decreasing morbidity associated with being ill or injured in the prehospital setting.
