Amen to that! This was my first time at the "Las Vegas Conference" and it blew my socks off. He was a faculty member of two fantastic education courses put on by Dr. Kenneth Mattox in Las Vegas. The first was Medical DIsaster Response 2008 and the other was Trauma, Critical Care & Acute Care Surgery 2008. Dr. Karim Brohi was prominent in both of them. I go every year and come away so invigorated that I MUST share with you my excitement and new since of positive value in my profession, my discipline of surgery, and my committment to trauma and critical care. Time and space tonight does not permit me the opportunity to adequately express all the many things that I ahve learned. This is by far the most compact and beneficial medical educational experience I ever participate in. It is like drinking from a fire hose. It just does not let up, is constant, and builds on itself as the course progresses. It is amazing. The final lecture by Dr. Mattox, for me, is a highlight of the course. On one slide, he summarizes each of the 52 presentations, and then in another single slide gives his own insightful reaction and editorial regarding the presentation. It is all very professionally and respectfully done, while pushing the educational envelope. I wrote down over 300 new ideas during theis course that I want to read more about and gain further insight. I will not miss next years meeting.
