Call the trauma center in Detroit - Henry Ford. Talk to one of the trauma surgeons. They will steer you in the right direction. In Atlanta, call Emory. Jeff Salomone. E Errington C. Thompson, MD, FACS, FCCM Trauma/Surgical Critical Care Author - Letter to America Asheville, NC -----Original Message----- From: trauma-list-bounces at trauma.org [mailto:trauma-list-bounces at trauma.org] On Behalf Of Pret Bjorn Sent: Friday, March 21, 2008 9:33 PM To: 'Trauma & Critical Care mailing list' Subject: Personal Inquiry I acquaintances whose college-age son has suffered what sounds like a complicated open tib-fib/ankle fracture while on holiday in Florida. He's a student living in Atlanta, Georgia, but has parents in Detroit, Michigan. At the moment it's up for grabs where he'll be convelescing, but the docs in Florida claim he'll need a number of staged repairs over several months, so flying home with his folks is not out of the question. The family's all laypeople, and terrified of his being transferred to the care of whoever's on call at the first hospital in the phone book. Anybody know any hot orthopods in Atlanta or Detroit? Much obliged for advice or referrals. Pret Bjorn, RN Bangor, ME USA -- trauma-list : TRAUMA.ORG To change your settings or unsubscribe visit: http://www.trauma.org/index.php?/community/
