Call the trauma center in Detroit - Henry Ford. Talk to one of the trauma
surgeons. They will steer you in the right direction.

In Atlanta, call Emory. Jeff Salomone.

Subject: Personal Inquiry

I acquaintances whose college-age son has suffered what sounds like a
complicated open tib-fib/ankle fracture while on holiday in Florida. He's a
student living in Atlanta, Georgia, but has parents in Detroit, Michigan.
At the moment it's up for grabs where he'll be convelescing, but the docs in
Florida claim he'll need a number of staged repairs over several months, so
flying home with his folks is not out of the question.

The family's all laypeople, and terrified of his being transferred to the
care of whoever's on call at the first hospital in the phone book.

Anybody know any hot orthopods in Atlanta or Detroit?

Much obliged for advice or referrals.
