Hi all, Apologies for the cross-post. I'm hoping the collective brain trust can help me on this one. As part of the improvements tat I'm trying to bring about for our program, I've been looking to develop an electronic records system for patient records as well as managing the small pharmacy and medical store here at the base. As there is no medical unit for the expedition back in SA, each successive doctor here has to inventory the stock and order new drugs and disposables for the next expedition - and we only get one shot at this each year. Unfortunately, it appears that several important factors have been missed, like planning rotation of equipment for servicing and replacement of gas tanks, etc. Also, patient records have been kept in a slightly haphazard fashion, with each medic employing whatever method (file, notebook, spreadsheet, etc) that suits them. Unfortunately, there is no 'official' budget for this project, so I'm looking for a low(no?) cost solution. I can sit and write a DB to do all these functions, but it strikes me that this is re-inventing the wheel. There are numerous free EMR packages available online; does anyone have experience with this type of software, and suggestions to make? Thanks in advance, Ross.
