thank you, Timothy, "Rainer, Until now that was the recommendation - but recently the ATLS had been reviewed with the help of this list, no less, and the attached document will highlight the planned changes in the next edition. Most of us here feel this is a good adaptation to new evidence." yes, i saw and read that article, when it was sent out on trauma-list. but the text is equivocal in my view - if i read it correctly, the delayed fluid resuscitation is only recommended for penetrating trauma. even being only a lurker, i very well remember the discussions about permissive hypotension on this list some five years ago, with Barry Armstrong being quite outspoken about this ...... it is just so that our young colleagues come back from their ATLS course and start the 2 l iters of crystalloid on all and sunder (i exaggerate a little), and i have a hard time turning down the flow rates. if i do not look for some minutes, somebody always opens the drip again ...... best regards, Rainer Gatz anestesiolog / Kärnsjukhuset Skaraborg / Skövde / Sweden e-post: rainer.gatz at t-online.de rainer.gatz at vgregion.se
