Having said that, it is my pleasure to relay some very exciting news about
two very special people: Drs. Trunkey and Pruitt are this year's
co-recipients of the King Faisal International Prize for Medicine for 2008. Please refer
to the following like for more information:

King Faisal was one of the most visionary forward thinking heads of state
that I have ever known. Both he and his widow were committed to quality
health care. Conceived in the early 1970s, at a time that there was not even
one traffic light in Riyadh, the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research
Center began. Originally with only 200 beds, it was the medical facility of
final resort when it opened in the late 1970s. It had facilities for
trauma, burns, cancer, vascular, cardiac, obstetric, pediatric, metabolic, and many
other very complex diseases. It is ironic that it was not quite ready
when King Faisal sustained a fatal injury in the mid 1970s. He was taken
Riyadh's Central (Shamazi) Hospital. It is appropriate that both Dr.
Trunkey and Dr. Pruitt receive an award, the namesake of which embodied the very
essence of the life work of these two medical giants. Congratulations.
